Diana Henry is one of the country's most loved and respected food writers. I was appointed in 2023 as her designer going forward with a view to revisiting her early titles as well as an exciting new publication for 2025. Our first project together was a re-wrap of her second title Roast Figs, Sugar Snow and it was extremely well received when published in September '23. Like me, Diana loves working collaboratively, "...I do want to be part of every element and it's part of why each book takes so much out of me, but I'm lucky to have a new designer (Matt Cox) who not only understood the vision, he understood me. It's a tricky brief – I wanted to capture the warmth of the food and the coldness of the season – and he pulled it off". The cover illustration which totally encapsulates the story is by the brilliant Paul Wearing.
